Form = Results - get what you give with proper form
Working out with the correct form and speed is much better for you
in many ways than throwing up more weight with sloppy form. Follow the
guidelines below for a much more beneficial and safe workout next time
you hit the gym.
- Slow down your reps: Lifting too fast defeats the purpose of lifting.
Your tendons and ligaments are taking the stress of your uncontrolled
movements, and the muscles you should be working aren't being worked
very well. Slow it down and concentrate on smooth, controlled motions.
- Use lighter weights: Lighter weights will allow you to focus more
on your form. While concentrating on your form with lighter weights
may at first seem more difficult (since you can't lift quite as
much using proper form), you're actually working a given muscle
group correctly and will benefit much more from the workout.
- Have someone observe/spot: Having someone else critique your form
may very well bring to light certain problems you would not have
noticed. A professional trainer or experienced bodybuilder should
be able to point out any mistakes you're making.
